1. The Portescap steppers used with LHFSD KITS have the wires colored as follows: A: Unipolar steppers: |

| B: Bipolar Steppers | ||

2. The LHFSD
Visual Basic *.exe Program is available for free download; just check the LHFSD
download page. The exe file and its source code, are included into the LHFSD Source Code files accompanying
the book. Note that LHFSD.exe is exactly what YOU ARE GOING TO DESIGN, and that is not even difficult! |

| 3. ReliaPro wires color code and
connections to LHFSD-HCK V2.1/V2.2 Please be aware ReliaPro steppers come with reduction gear and they move very little. That is not a bad thing, because you have the opportunity to implement few, simple firmware modifications to make them move more. Anyway, they are all unipolar steppers, and we were assured they are compatible with half-stepping. The color code presented for 28BYJ012A is the same for ReliaPro PN 237753, and 28BYJ016. Electrical characteristics are different in each case. Details are in Getting_Started.with_HCK.pdf tutorial provided with each HCK kit. |

4. ICD2 Rework needed to prevent errors. It appears some older ICD2 units need rework in order to eliminate a series of errors like ICD0161. In order to fix that problem, you have to open the ICD2 unit and take out R23 and R36. Next, use two small wire jumpers to short the resistors. Alternatively, you could send your ICD2 unit to Microchip for rework. Find details about this operation at http://forum.microchip.com/tm.asp?m=40983 |
||
| 5. ICD2 error 0161 The causes of the ICD2 error 0161 are multiple. Please discover the MPLAB Help associated to ICD2, because all errors are listed there, together with modalities to correct them. Chapter 4: ICD2 Interface (in Edition 4 of LHFSD) explains how to fix ICD0161 in all situations. That error is generated by ICD2, not by LHFSD-HCK. |

| 6. Transition to HCK V2.3 Unfortunately, our main supplier of electronic components Digi-Key has cancelled the contract with AVX for polyfilm capacitors. That forces us to implement polarized and ceramic capacitors on the existing lots of HCK V2.2. The problem is, polyfilm capacitors have a 5.02 mm footprint while the polarized and ceramic capacitors require only 1.5 mm footprint. We will adapt the footprints of the new types of capacitors on the future version, HCK V2.3. Meanwhile, you could notice polarized capacitors on the HCK V2.2. Do not worry because each kit is tested manually before we send them to you, and you get your HCK only if it works OK. Because each HCK is built and tested manually, we never had a "bad" kit. They all work. In addition, although the kits are named V2.1, 2.2, 2.3, etc., they all work exactly the same. We supply the proper schematics with each HCK |
||
| 7. HCK kits are sold exclusively by Corollary
Theorems. This is due to the fact we manufacture the kits in small lots. The parts and the manufacturing costs are quite expensive for us, therefore we need to adjust the quantities of the manufactured kits according to the sales. Compared to many existing educational kits on the marked, we offer a very good deal at a very low price. |
||
| 8. VB "File not found" problem This may happen when you do not open the projects in VB 6 by double-clicking on *.vbp. Clicking on any other file may generate the error "file not found". |
