ABOUT SCIENCE FICTION by O G POPA

I started reading since I was six years old, and my favorite topic was "adventure". Around twelve, I discovered true, real adventures; therefore, I stared reading voraciously about history, geographic explorations, and also chemistry and electronics.

In high-school I was very good (some say, "exceptionally good"--old story) at Mathematics and Physics. During the University years I started reading specialized technical manuals, and also books about practical, day to day life: for example, cooking books. The (definite) passion for SF came rather late in my life, because I am a down-to-Earth, reality-inclined individual. Things are this way.

The best tool we can use to develop our logic is Mathematics (and Physics: Physics and Mathematics work hand in hand). However, mathematical logic cannot work alone: it needs imagination! Note that most mathematical problems start with, "Suppose we have a ..." Suppose!

I love, I admire, and I respect science. However, true science may develop only on a very rich, fertile imagination. In the same time I love, I admire, and I respect Human Individual; in other words, Psychology. Therefore, it was natural I devoted few good decades to reading about science, and to studying real life, interactive psychology. I still do that, and I will do it till the last moment of my life.

Science Fiction represents the "Crown of Literature" in our Civilization, and in any Civilization. Note that Science Fiction includes science, romance, history, adventure, mystery/suspense, reality, (whatever), and it brings something more: suppose!

Most people do not like Science Fiction. This is a reality-check fact, because the average intellectual level in our society is very, very low. However, all people do want to develop their logic. Now, regardless of how much Physics you will learn, Mathematics, Philosophy, computer programming, specialty training, or History, Literature--you name it--nothing is going to work well unless you will develop the taste for Science Fiction. This is psychology, dear people.

In the moment you will discover that Science Fiction brings total relaxation and perfect psychical/mental balance for you, then you can be certain you are a very wise person! Unfortunately, there are only few good Science Fiction books: most of them are absurd fantasies having insignificant traces of any science/reality. Those books are not good for anything.

My favorite SF authors are Isaac Asimov and A E Van Vogt. I do recommend them, and I also recommend my books, because I tried to overpass those two great, famous authors. Of course, I tried doing that in science and in knowledge, not in fame, in literary style, or in author profile. Frankly, I do not care much about any literary fame, because I write my books for ...

Well, this is another (too long) story.

 MERCY by O G POPA
ISBN/EAN 9780978160425

MERCY
MERCY is adventure, romance, mystery, and science blended in vibrant, dynamic action. This book will keep you tense and focused from cover to cover. If you enjoy space travel, spaceships technologies, mental powers, and the science of the future, this book is for you.

The action happens in the Vortex of Lights Galaxy, and the time frame is impossible to relate to Earth's--there are absolutely no terrestrial references. A Nova Accident ends 600 years of Imperial ruling over 236 Planetary Systems. Two Zelhane Ladies inherit the legacy of the past Empire and they start rebuilding it, helped by Ghethe Dakka, the Imperial Chief Investigator of the Science Division.

The balance of forces is totally disproportioned: on one side are the two Zelhane Ladies and Ghethe Dakka. In the other side is the powerful Qualosa Guild having terrible ex-Imperial Military Forces, alien people having fantastic mental powers, and the Suta Priests. However, the Chief Investigator of the Science Division is a man unlike any other!

The action flows naturally in MERCY. Descriptions are limited to few brief paragraphs, while the action and dialogs are predominant. The "tone" of the book is largely relaxed on a general comic/ironic background, excepting for few hard action chapters. There are no SF stereotype exaggerations, and no unnatural "things": everything is explained logically, and scientifically.

Most readers forget they read about an alien world, totally unrelated to Earth, 10000 years of Civilization ahead of us. However, if you read it attentively, you will discover that each small detail in MERCY reveals incredible technological secrets, very advanced scientific theories, and incredible individual/social psychological aspects. In addition, MERCY starts unveiling the mystery over mental powers!

FROM THE AUTHOR

"Although I am the author of MERCY, I do not deserve the credits. I know you will not believe this but, somehow, MERCY wrote itself. Two years before deciding to write anything in my life, a lot of strange images kept on coming into my mind. For example, I could picture perfectly clear a man breaking through a massive metallic door to save two ladies. I was totally puzzled--and a bit scared--since I had no idea where those images came from. I saw a man dressed in a dark armor fighting inside a grandiose palace, and many other strange things ..."

Mercy is the first book of the tetralogy, "THE BIRTH OF THE ISHKATUN-GON" ["Ishkatun-Gon" is translated as "Galactic Empire" in Imperial Standard]. This series contains:
1. MERCY
2. LATANCONCOP
3. ISHKATUN-GON
4. THE DHEE

FROM THE PUBLISHER

"MERCY is different from anything published or pictured in movies. Nothing comes not even close to this book: it is just a ravishing delight! When reading it, you have the feeling of being one player in a grandiose, cosmic, live adventure!"

THREE STORIES FROM HILSA"N TASSA GALAXY by O G Popa
ISBN/EAN 9780978160432

THREE STORIES FROM HILSA'N TASSA GALAXY
Wonderful!

As the name suggests, THREE STORIES FROM HILSA'N TASSA GALAXY is a collection of three SF stories, as follows:

1. THE HALL OF THE FOUNTAINS
2. PEASANT AMBASSADOR
3. HURRAN INVASION

You will discover in this book few alien Civilizations living in Hilsa'N Tassa Galaxy: their science, their struggle to survive, and their people.

THE HALL OF THE FOUNTAINSTHE HALL OF THE FOUNTAINS is a short SF story spanning on seven chapters. This little story is easy to read and very entertaining.

Inside the Eglam System archeologists from Equal Coalition Worlds discover a mysterious fountains system, still in working condition after millennia! Hidden technologies allows people's access to only one, two, or three of the seven fountains.

Lady Laleah H'Ven Kinlen appears to be the only person in the ECW capable of reaching all fountains, and of ending the mystery surrounding them. During one of her visits to the fountains she is accused of crime.

A group of technicians decide to help Miss Kinlen with her Juridical Procedure. Soon they discover they work against an incredibly powerful Beneficiary-Group ...

This story reveals few insights about spatial rifts (or spatial-temporal rifts) which we could find on Earth in few special places, and in some particular conditions.

PEASANT AMBASSADORPEASANT AMBASSADOR brings an old promise to our readers: to reveal NATURAL ANTIGRAVITY! However, natural antigravity is only a minor topic compared to other advanced scientific ideas. Although this story is very short--again, only seven chapters--it is a lesson about the science of the future you do not want to miss.

The Great Obar Empire is at war with Peasants' Planet, Aggrea, for fifty obar years. The peasants decide to end the war, therefore they send Dar'Raen as Ambassador to the Great Obar Emperor.

The Obar Princess, Shalle Shenaell Naydhu, intends to bring Peasant Ambassador into obedience to her person, and Dar'Raen is brought to her in chains, inside a metallic cage ...

Will the Peasant Ambassador succeed in his mission? Will he fail? Read this book.

HURRAN INVASIONHURRAN INVASION  is a nice, innocent romance evolving under the shadow of a terrible threat: Hurran Invasion. The book is characterized by effervescent action, and it reveals technological secrets of accessing Primary Energies inside the Subatomic!

After 80 years of developing their invasion fleet, the Hurrans decide to attack the Allied Worlds Confederation. They have on their side the surprise element, excellent strategies, advanced technologies, and corrupted officials inside the Allied Worlds Council.

Najé Xallas feels directly responsible for Hurrans' military success, because they used his invention: "Trans-States Drive" transport technology. He decides to fight the Hurrans, and Miss Raika Madjen is assigned to him as Official Secretary to the Allied Worlds Council. Najé falls instantly in love with Raika, although she is an enigma to him. He cannot understand why an exceptional Lady like her is not married already. He finds out ... eventually.

HURRAN INVASION spans on seventeen chapters, and it is written in the style specific to O G POPA--that is, an exceptional balance between comic, science, and dynamic action.

FROM THE AUTHOR

"Three Stories From Hilsa'N Tassa Galaxy is my first step into the literary world. Generally, I prefer writing longer novels, like MERCY, because details are very important, particularly when describing alien worlds. However, some readers prefer short, entertaining stories. Three Stories From Hilsa'N Tassa Galaxy is a very nice book, and I have to admit I treasure it a lot."

FROM THE PUBLISHER

"Three Stories From Hilsa'N Tassa Galaxy is surprising, insightful, entertaining, just as very good books are supposed to be, and even way more. The amazing thing about this book is, you read it relaxed, since all stories are written in a bit comic tone but, when you finish it, the first impulse is to read it again!

The first story, 'The Hall of the Fountains', appears to be the first (very long) chapter in a fantastic, future space adventure. 'Peasant Ambassador' again leaves the door open for future literary developments, and it is so fascinating that you will feel the need to read it few times. Lastly, 'Hurran Invasion' is a dear treasure: everybody is going to love Hurran Invasion.

Amazingly, each story describes a particular, alien Civilization, but there is nothing exaggerated or absurd in there: things are different, though they do make perfect, natural sense, as if they are described by prime-witnesses ... Read this book."
