Sunday October 26, 2008 People are not perfect--they just cannot be that way because we have a dual nature: of intelligent beings, and of animals. Most of us train their "animal side" as much as they can, since it is the most appraised, socially: it appears it is the the best of us! The body building industry today, the Viagra sales, plus the explosive underground narcotics sales are flourishing as never before in history. The only problem we have is this awful technological development: it forces some of us to have to behave intelligently--this is not good. Long gone are the days when people solved any managerial decisions with the power of the fist, or helped by some sort of weapons, or with some "physical skills" (sports competition). The actual "Computer Revolution" we live today corners us into having to take "wise, complex decisions". Still, the great majority cares most only for their own bodily functions. Even the social propaganda displayed preferentially in most (SF) movies is, "Don't think; just do it!" Makes perfect sense right here, right now, Sir: we can live perfectly well, very happy, without any stinking "thinking process". We did just that for thousand years by now; right? THE TOOTHBRUSH THEORY In the glorious year 2008, it is simply impossible to find a straight handle, evenly cut, NORMAL TOOTHBRUSH. You see, these days we use "Computer Aided Design" (CAD) software to shape anything; now, because the software allows it, and because we need "to prove" we do something at work, somehow, the toothbrush object has become what it is today: ANYTHING BUT A TOOTHBRUSH. We have more toothbrush producers than ever, and the shops are literarily overflowing with any imaginable shape and color of toothbrushes, except for the straight, regular, classic, simple, centuries old by now, toothbrushes. The toothbrush "social deviation" phenomenon is very new--only ten years old--and it defies any straight logic. Not only that those curly things are not good for anything--this is, compared to the straight, evenly cut toothbrushes--and they are 10 to 100 times more expensive, but it appears the great majority loves those bent miseries a lot: those things sell very well! Anyway, the toothbrush theory is far more complex, and it is also characteristic to our actual social life. The regular, straight, normal social model is not in fashion, socially, anymore; people must be "bent", a little "twisted", and they should have plenty of illogic inside their nature in order to "sell". The leading social principle today is, "Don't think; just do it." During the past week, our political leaders strove to understand the "mechanisms" behind the actual "Bank Crisis". Well, you do not have to look very far, dear friends; just look very, very careful at any "successful" social product near you; take, for example, an ordinary toothbrush. |
