| WEEK 28, 2008 |

Sunday July 6, 2008 While traveling through Europe we stopped (involuntarily) for few good hours at Frankfurt International Airport. Next, we felt a bit of shame. You see, we live in Canada, N. America--for the time being--and we have criticized a lot the N. American social environment hoping someone would read our words and further work on improving things. This is the way good, honest criticism is supposed to work. Anyway, for a while--or possibly permanently--we intend to operate from within the European Union, and we trust this will work to broaden our Global Picture. As mentioned, we have criticized a lot the social, economical, political, N. American environment. However, there is also plenty to mention about EU. Particularly striking to us was the physical dirt we saw at Frankfurt International Airport. Business looked very good, despite any possible global recession, though there is plenty of hard cleaning work needed there. [Honestly; what the heck!] Secondly, we noticed the level of humanity is still very, very low in Deutschland. You have a lot of serious work ahead dear German brothers and sisters because, you see, ordinary people ARE NOT ANIMALS. When traveling through Frankfurt International Airport, people need a decent place to rest; laying down on the ground is not suitable for people. We suggest, a minimum of 2000 more seats should be added inside and outside of Frankfurt International Airport in order to become a nice, decent place. Thirdly, we have noticed most German people/personnel handle English fairly well--bravo to you! However, the level of training in performing the job was a bit alarming. Incredibly, most German airline employees are not able to read a simple airplane ticket! As for their "directions" to the customers ... Well, the customers need to be aware they may have some tough experiences there. Lastly--well, sort of--the accidental or incidental travelers should know that 1/2 L of bottled water is about 3 Euro in Frankfurt! [Normally, there should be some facilities of free, clean water available for everybody; again, we are not animals.] We tried buying some fast food--some cakes--only we noticed plenty of tiny bugs crawling or flying around the food. We asked about the origin of those funny insects, though we got no intelligible answer. Next, we decided to stay away from any German food, German beer, and anything German. Now, please do not take this as if we are angry in any way with Deutschland, or with the German people; no. On the contrary, the overall impression was, the Germans are fairly nice. We have no doubts the are many very nice people in Deutschland, and Germany is an instructive place to visit. Our criticism should only help. SOME SAY YES, SOME SAY NO We went over this week's social, political, economical, and scientific news and nothing seemed sufficiently impressive. Of course, this is only us. You see, in democratic societies--this is most of our World--some say "yes" while some say "no" referring to exactly the same thing. Therefore, our life is extremely chaotic, unfocused and unpredictable, and it is very difficult to come up with some definite "Global Picture". Anyway, to us, the most important event last week was, we shipped MERCY and THREE STORIES to Amazon.com. Please allow us to point out that this is an excellent, unique opportunity to N. American readers to purchase our books now, while or whenever they can do that--just trust us with this one. |
